Colleagues and Friends,
We are honored to share the Holland & Hart Foundation 2021 Annual Report and reflect on the initiatives and projects we supported. By helping others and making a difference, our Foundation members were vital in supporting long-term partnerships and exploring new opportunities. We are grateful to be a part of a wonderful organization that provides opportunities for us to volunteer, serve, and get to know our communities and colleagues better.
One of the main tenets of the Foundation is to encourage our attorneys and staff to engage in our communities to form deep connections in the process of serving, which we successfully managed to do again in 2021. We were glad to get back to a version of normal, taking on projects as groups working together.
• For the third year in a row, we hosted our firmwide summer school supply drive by collecting and donating more than $15,000
in cash and school supply donations, supporting local schools or organizations that assist with providing back-to-school
supplies, education resources, and clothing and shoes to students of all ages.
• The Foundation hosted numerous food and clothing drives throughout the year, providing supplies and donations to older
adult centers, various shelters, and homeless youth centers.
• Volunteers reconnected and participated outdoors in cleanup efforts at parks and hiking trails and in community-wide efforts.
• During the holidays, we supported individuals and families in need through various projects and donations.
• Through our Mississippi Project, for the 19th consecutive year, we are honored to continue funding one student scholarship and two
awards that recognize well-deserving teaching professionals.
We look forward to the coming years, when we will have more opportunities to increase our impact and expand our reach through our meaningful and deep connections and service in our communities.
Thank you to everyone who supported and partnered with the Foundation by looking outward to serve others during a time when it was so easy to only focus on ourselves and our families. Our work continues and we are glad to be invested in this together.

In 2002, Louise Artibello, a secretary at Holland & Hart, was listening to NPR when she heard an inspiring story about “LaLee’s Kin,” a documentary film by Susan Froemke, Deborah Dickson, and Albert Maysles, filmed in West Tallahatchie, Mississippi. The documentary profiled Laura Lee Wallace, a woman raising her grandchildren and great-grandchildren in the West Tallahatchie School District (the poorest school district in the United States at the time). Artibello spread the word to the attorneys and staff of Holland & Hart and persuaded the Foundation to act and support the students and teachers. After an initial in-person donation of books, school supplies, clothes, and other items, the Foundation committed to a ten-year scholarship and awards program to annually recognize one exceptional student, one exceptional teacher, and one exceptional teacher’s assistant. A decade later, the Board of Directors voted to extend the program.
The 2021 recipients are: Miss Quandesha Slaughter, who was awarded the Promise Scholarship; Ms. Katrina Weinert, who received Outstanding Teacher of the Year; and Ms. Ykieta Pimpton, who received Outstanding Assistant Teacher of the Year. Congratulations!

sUPPORT DURING THE HOLIDAYS
Each year, around the November and December holidays, the Foundation is involved in many projects and activities to support individuals, families, and local organizations. In 2021, the Foundation provided gift cards to homeless and vulnerable youth, purchased items or donated funds for giving tree programs, sponsored families in need, and filled holiday gift bags for older adults with the hope of bringing a small amount of joy and happiness to those less fortunate. The annual “Samta” visit was held virtually again this year with 30 children of all ages engaging in endearing conversations with co-founders Sam and Jean Guyton.

SUPPORTING Individuals, Families, and Shelters
The pandemic significantly impacted many of the most vulnerable in our local communities, creating additional strain on local shelters, older adult centers, and even local animal shelters trying to meet ever-growing needs. Many individuals, families, and even our four-legged friends received support through friendly letters, gift bags, food, and other needed supplies, and cash donations thanks to the generosity of Foundation volunteers.

Each year, Foundation office committees collaborate on one initiative that supports all of our communities. In 2021, the Foundation held its third annual firmwide school supply drive to help support the needs of students of all ages as identified by schools and community partner organizations. Many offices organized activities to support local schools and non-profits, providing back-to-school supplies,
clothing, and other goods to students and community members over the summer and throughout the year.
It is rewarding to see the Foundation’s impact! We are excited to share that the Foundation’s school supply drive collected more than $12,000 in supplies and monetary donations. In addition, firm business partner Lexis Nexis donated $3,000 that was divided among the schools and non-profits, for a grand total of more than $15,000. To each of you who assisted schools and education programs in 2021, thank you for your time, energy, and donations—you helped support students’ well-being and learning opportunities.

sUPPORTING SCHOOLS AND Education
The Holland & Hart Foundation carries on Holland & Hart’s longstanding commitment to community service. Members of the firm believe in giving back to the community through contributing time and talents. While other law firms have established grant-making foundations, only a handful focus principally on volunteerism and building community.
Launched in 1998 by Holland & Hart retired partner Sam Guyton, and his wife Jean, the Holland & Hart Foundation is a 501(c)(3) organization with three primary goals:
• Create opportunities for individual and group volunteerism at Holland & Hart
• Foster a greater sense of community among the attorneys and staff of Holland & Hart
• Support the local and broader communities in which Holland & Hart practices professionally
To achieve these goals, Holland & Hart attorneys, staff, friends, families, and clients support programs and participate in volunteer-driven community events organized by the Foundation’s board and office committees.

Each year the Foundation office committees collaborate on one initiative that supports all of our communities. In 2021, the Foundation held its third annual firmwide school supply drive to help support the needs of students of all ages as identified by schools and partners in our local communities. Back-to-school supply drives operated a little differently in 2021 with adjusted routines for in-person learning and the increased need for remote-learning supplies. Several of our offices worked with a local school or organization to provide back-to-school supplies for students. Thank you to everyone for your contributions–you helped to bring joy and learning to those in need.

In 2021, the pandemic continued to impact many of the most vulnerable in our local communities, creating additional strain on local shelters, food banks, and older adult centers that provide housing, emergency shelter, and supportive services. The Foundation also assisted refugee groups seeking asylum in our communities and in other countries where our volunteers have close ties. Thanks to the generosity of Foundation volunteers, we provided essential living supplies, gift bags, food and meals, clothing, gift cards and cash donations.
Our 2021 Winter Drive was a huge success. As a firm, we donated more than $10,700 in cash and goods, from toothbrushes and jackets to nail polish and baby blankets, to help individuals, families, and supporting organizations through the winter months.

Annual Report
holland & Hart foundation
Outdoor volunteering was a perfect way for Foundation members to get together in person to work on group projects. In 2021, volunteers participated in community and neighborhood building maintenance projects to help beautify our local parks and outdoor gathering spaces. Teams of Foundation members, family, and friends hit the trails and parks for cleanup initiatives, worked hard updating community
gardens, banded together for a full day building a home, participated in activities benefiting developing student athletes, and even raised and levelled cemetery markers. Improving the outdoor spaces we use is just one way we give back to our communities and the environment.
